If walking into a dental office tightens your shoulders, you are very much not alone. A lot of the patients we see have put off care for years because of fear or a bad experience somewhere in their past. That's okay — and there's a kind, comfortable way forward.
It's okay to be nervous
Dental anxiety is one of the most common reasons people skip cleanings and let small problems grow. We hear it every week, and we don't take it lightly. Telling us you're nervous isn't a complaint — it's helpful. It changes how we set up your visit from the moment you walk in.
What sedation actually means
At a high level, sedation dentistry is a set of options that help you feel calm and relaxed during treatment. Some options simply take the edge off so you feel a little more at ease. Others let you drift through the appointment with very little memory of it afterward. The right choice depends on you, the procedure, and your health history — and we'll walk through it together before anything is decided.
The goal is your comfort and your pace
Sedation isn't about pushing you through more work than you're ready for. It's the opposite — it's a tool that lets us go slowly, in a way that respects what your body and your nerves can handle in one sitting. We'll explain every step before it happens, check in often, and stop any time you need a break.
You're in the driver's seat
We never want a patient to feel rushed or talked into anything. If you'd like to come in just to meet us, see the room, and talk about what sedation might look like for you — no exam, no commitment — that's a perfectly normal first visit, and we welcome it.
Ready when you are
Give us a call and tell us, in your own words, what's been holding you back. We'll listen, answer your questions, and build a plan that meets you where you are — and if you'd like to read more about how we welcome anxious patients, our new-patient page walks through what to expect.
